In 1924, two Priests and a Pastor of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Chicago developed the “Victory Heights Catholic Summer Colony” under the supervision of the Catholic Colonization Society of the United States. A clubhouse and several cabins were built by both lay people and priests on the peninsula surrounding the Chapel. There were many summer camps and retreats for friars, priests, and lay people. In the 1980s, social and economic change occurred and the properties were sold off. The chapel is now maintained by the summer congregation. Mass is held from Memorial Day through Labor Day summer Sundays when a priest is available in the Chapel.
