Dear parishioners, visitors, guests and benefactors—
A number of months ago someone brought my attention to an old stained glass window that was part of the original St. Joseph Church. It was repaired and fitted for the present St. Joseph Church. Last week we blessed the window which was close to the Feast of St. Joseph. I am so happy it was recovered, renewed and placed in the present church building. It is truly a gift to have that physical connection with the old church building. I believe it is a special way we can honor the past that can strengthen us for the future. Thank you for all who value our heritage in such beautiful ways.
I want to thank all those who baked bread for the St. Joseph Table. I personally hand-delivered many loaves of bread and rolls to the homebound and shut-ins. They wanted me to make sure I thanked you for your generosity and talents. I too am grateful for your support in brightening their day.
For the past two years, Paul Todd has performed at St. Joseph Parish in Hayward. So many have appreciated his gift of music. He is so grateful to you for your care, support and love shown to him over the past two years. Many of you know that Paul Todd’s wife, Dawn, died of cancer a few weeks ago. There will be a memorial mass in Florida for Dawn on Friday, March 29, at 2:00 pm Eastern time. Since many people from Hayward are friends of Paul Todd, I thought it would be great if we held a mass for Dawn at the exact same time the memorial mass is being prayed in Florida. Therefore, I will hold a special mass for Paul Todd’s wife on Friday, March 29, at 1:00 pm at St. Joseph Parish Church. We will still have 11:30 Stations of the Cross and the 12:00 noon mass on that same day.
It is great to see so many of you attending the Stations of the Cross devotions during Lent. Your participation is noticed.
There will be another second collection next weekend for World Concerns. Again, your support is greatly appreciated. If you know of anyone who is homebound, please notify the office so we can make a pastoral visit. We like to keep in touch with all of our parishioners.
