The Msgr. Walter Kalandyk Council #6587 at St Joseph Parish in Hayward is one of over 15,000 councils of the Knights of Columbus, established in 1882 by Fr Michael McGivney. Dedicated primarily to charitable work and the sanctity of life, the Knights’ involvement includes fundraising for the mentally handicapped, assisting with college expenses, donating to the local food shelves, offering financial assistance for ultrasound placement in pregnancy resource centers at the local and national level, and more! We help support our parish activities and consider our council as part of the parish family.
High quality insurance plans available only to members and families are optional, but the strength of the members-only insurance products provides financial strength and sustainability for the Knights of Columbus.
Highlights of Council Activities:
There are many needs and opportunities to help out in many different ways throughout the year right here in our community, so if you are a practicing Catholic, male, and age 18 or older, we encourage you to consider becoming a Knight, serving our church and community, and enjoy the camaraderie with other Knights here in the Hayward area.
For more information, please contact the church office, a member of the Knights of Columbus, or Grand Knight Sy Wera, 715-794-2365
Casimir Tyminski was a member of St Joseph Parish, and upon passing away, left the relatively new Hayward Knights of Columbus, Monsignor Kalandyke Council 6587, a sizable fund for charitable works. His commitment to this community was commendable and we are honored to adminisiter gift.
With this gift, the council committed to build and fund Scholarships for higher education for members from our parishes. There are other KC Scholarships funded by the Supreme Council that students may want to check out too!
