Located on County Hill Road. From Downtown Hayward, follow Highway 63 South for about 1 mile. Turn right on Greenwood Lane and follow approximately 3/4 mile. Turn left onto County Hill Road and follow about 1.5 miles. As you pass the gravel pit area you will see a sign on your left that will take you to the parking area. About 4 miles of winding trails with a couple of small hills, scenic mixed woods, a small lake, and abundant wildlife. In the winter months, options include cross-country ski trails, a sledding hill, and a snowshoe trail.
All area young adults (and their families!) are invited to the Town of Hayward Recreational Forest for hiking on Wednesday, August 9. Meet at the shelter as groups will be heading out at 5:00 and 5:45 pm. All experience levels are welcome! In the event of nasty weather, the shelter is reserved to play board games.
