A Brief HistoryThe Divine Mercy Chapel was established in January of 2001 under the direction of then pastor, Fr. Bill Green. The Parish Center was built creating a place for student classes, meeting facilities, a library, and the Adoration Chapel.
The beautiful tabernacle located in our chapel was originally purchased in the 1930s by St. Joseph Parish. It was refurbished in 2015 and installed in the chapel to enrich our devotions.
From the commitment of a personal Holy Hour to the benefit of being able to stop in for a brief prayer, the Adoration Chapel is a wonderful resource for the Hayward Area Catholic community. The Chapel is overseen by the Chapel Committee.
The Chapel has a coded lock, set automatically from 4:00 PM to 8:00 AM. For the access code to visit before or after regular hours, see the Parish Administrator or the secretary.

Adore Him

A devotion whereby people may pray or meditate before the Blessed Sacrament, for one or more hours a week.

Yes, during Mass times and the Easter Triduum.

No, Adoration is open to everyone.

Absolutely! Everyone is encouraged to pray in the chapel even if it is for just a few minutes. You may come at any time between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. Just because an hour has a “scheduled” adorer it does not exclude you from praying in the chapel at that time.

In prayer, meditation, reading Scripture, reading spiritual materials and books (either your own or those provided in the chapel) reciting the rosary or Divine Mercy chaplet, or just basking in the Presence of the Lord.

Chapel Guidelines & Etiquette

- God is present on the altar. One should never turn your back to the Eucharist.
- Before being seated demonstrate your reverence by genuflecting or deep bow. Do the same when leaving the chapel.
- The exposed Sacrament should never be left alone.
- Our adoration time is a time of quiet prayer and meditation (please limit conversations).
- Please silence all electronic devices before entering the chapel.
- Nothing is to be placed on the altar. Do not move or touch the monstrance.
- Food and drinks should not be brought into the chapel.
- Young children are very welcome, but should never be left alone in the chapel.
- Candles are to be left burning unless the tabernacle is empty.
We suggest that you recite the Divine Praises before you exit the chapel. (Copies can be found in the kneelers)
